Event description

The aim of the meeting is to review and discuss the most recent results regarding the formation of young low-mass stars. We will concentrate more specifically on the classical T Tauri phase during which the forming star is accreting material from the surrounding disc onto the surface through magnetospheric funnels. We will discuss in particular the magnetic fields of low-mass stars (eg characteristics, orgin), their role in the star/disc interaction and accretion processes, as well as their overall impact on stellar formation. We will also briefly discuss the preceding and following stages in the formation process (magnetized collapse of molecular cloud, rotational evolution to the main sequence). We will finally conclude with a round table on new collaborative projects that could further boost our understanding on how low-mass stars form.

Venue details

The meeting will take place in Toulouse, France, at Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie (IRAP).

It is scheduled on 2011 Nov 14-16, in the Coriolis conference room.

Signs will be posted from the entrance of IRAP (Belin site) to guide you to the conference toom.
