Welcome to the pages of the GECO group

The Galaxies, Stars, and Cosmology (GECO) group covers a wide range of topics going from stars to cosmology. In particular it covers the study of:

  • the interstellar and intergalactic mediums,
  • the different phases of the formation of stars,
  • the physical processes involved in the formation and the evolution of galaxies and their environment,
  • the dynamics of galaxies,
  • the large-scale structure of the Universe and its evolution,
  • the dark matter properties,
  • the cosmological model.

Weekly Events

  • Café Club every Tuesday at 13h30 in room Mistral - An informal seminar with presentations of ~20-25 minutes. Event organizers: Carlo Giocoli & Javier Marquez & Pedro Palmeirim

  • Tea Time Chat every other Tuesday, 15h00 - 16h00 - Informal meeting of students and postdocs to discuss science/life/etc.. Event organizer: Janine Pforr.

  • All Write every Wednesday, 16h00 - 17h00 - A quiet writing hour. Organizer: Janine Pforr.
